PennEnvironment Research and Policy Center Staff
Ray is a Climate Defender Organizer based in Pittsburgh. He organizes volunteers to address climate change and promote clean energy solutions, building a broad base to take action and make progress.
Before joining PennEnvironment, Ray founded the Pittsburgh chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby. Over the course of four years he grew the chapter by developing four groups which cover each of Western Pennsylvania's federal legislative districts. He remains the volunteer Co-Coordinator for Pennsylvania. In that role he has developed and led state strategy plans and implementation. He's also led and participated in over 50 lobby meetings with members of congress and staff as well as testified before the EPA and Pennsylvania's DEP. He is a dedicated climate policy activist with a dynamic spouse, two amazing and remarkable daughters and a couple of high-energy Aussie rescue-dogs who keep him running.
Ray has a Masters of Education in secondary math education from the University of Pittsburgh focusing on adult instruction and learning.
